Scar Remover Creams ...Do They Really Work?
You can try one of those scar remover creams, when faced with an unsightly scar
...or you can consult with a plastic surgeon.
Allow me to show you how to identify the different kinds of scars
...and what you can do to get rid of them.
Since I believe that everyone should give all other options a try before opting to go under the knife for surgery scar removal, we will discuss some of the less invasive tactics first.
First of all you should know that a scar is usually a permanent fixture on your skin once it is there
...and any type of cream, OR procedure is going to take dedication.
...Three different kinds of scars!
Not all scars are the same, there are actually three different kinds of scars.
Each of these scars will require a little different scar remover treatment when trying to reduce its appearance.

Rubbing vitamin E on a scar is a great way to soften the thick hard tissue, and to induce the production of collagen to the scar site, which will slightly minimize the appearance of scar over time.

Different types of scars? How do I know which one I have?
Identifying the different types of scars is quite simple and can be done by simply looking at, and feeling the scar.
First of all you should know what a scar is; a scar is the body's way of healing itself after an injury such as a cut or an open wound like a stubborn zit.
The more severe the injury or wound, the more severe the scarring will be.
When your body is injured it sends a lot of collagen to the wound to heal/cover the open hole with tissue.
It is this build up of collagen that leads to the formation of the scar.
...How do you tell which type of scar you have??
So, how do you tell which type of scar you have? ...Ask yourself a few questions is my scar raised, sitting on top of my skin?
Or is my scar depressed or under the surface layer of the skin.
If your scar is on top of the skin, it is called hypertrophic, and its raised appearance will generally fade with time.
The second type is more like a valley or a hole that has formed on the skin, or below the surface layer of skin.
This type of called atrophic.
There is a third type of scar called a keloid. Keloidal scars are actually non-malignant skin tumors.
Unlike a regular scar, keloids will continue to grow and get larger.
People of color are generally more likely to develop these types of scars.
…Lets talk about how to get rid of them!
Plastic surgery scar removal can take several sessions and be quite costly
...so it is always my advice to try scar remover creams and other such products before opting for such procedures.
Many face scars are caused by acne. These types of face scars are typically atrophic and there are several treatment options available.
However you must be careful to avoid causing more acne with these pore clogging, scar remover creams.
Acne scars are not the only type of atrophic scars, another very common scar of the atrophic variety are stretch marks.
There are several different creams to fade stretch marks and one specific cream used to treat acne.
Fact is that most of these stretch mark creams are just over priced lotion.
...Its all about ingredients!
You must investigate the ingredients carefully before purchasing.
A very good example of a reputable stretch mark cream is Strivectin SD, finding a product with similar ingredients to this is your best bet.
The popular ointment Mederma is very good for fading acne scars, but not that great for stretch marks
...because stretch marks exist in the deepest layers of tissue and Mederma lacks the ability to penetrate.
For raised scars that are extremely noticeable there is an amazing product called scar silicone.
Scar silicone is sort of like a band aid that covers the scar and helps smooth it, and flatten it out.
These sheets can be cut to fit your scar and they are machine washable, so they can be reused.
What's the difference in scar removal and tattoo removal?
Honestly, a tattoo is a form of decorative scarring and a tattoo scar is removed with a laser, by a licensed doctor.
As a matter of fact many dermatologists' offices lump both these procedures into one called "Tattoo and Scar Removal".
The procedure can take several settings, and is done with a laser that destroys the pigment in the dermis layer of the skin.
If in fact you choose a cream scar remover cream
...remember to be sure to test a small area of skin first to be sure you don't have an adverse reaction to the treatment.
