Puffy Eyelids ...What are the Causes??

Puffy eyelids are a common problem that many individuals find their self struggling with on a daily basis.

There are several causes of puffy or swollen eyelids. A swollen eyelid is sometimes a message that you need to make some changes in certain daily habits or routines, and sometimes it is simply a sign of aging.

As many reasons as there are that your eyelids might swell, there are just as many remedies and serums to reduce the appearance of puffy eyelids.

The skin around eyes is so delicate that before placing anything on them you need to be absolutely sure that the product is gentle enough to be placed on the eye area.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~tip~~~~~~~~~~~~~~tip~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When you find yourself faced with a puffy or swollen eyelid, go to the fridge and grab a fresh cucumber. Cut two slices and place them directly on your eyes…closing your eyes first of course. Relax for a few minutes with the cucumbers in place this will greatly reduce the appearance of the swelling. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are several different types of treatments to reduce the appearance of puffy eyelids.
Of course it is always best to stick with the basics, the natural items that are the most gentle on the body.
However, there are certain natural items that are too harsh for the gentle skin around the eye; such as citrus acids.
Can I prevent the puffy face, or swollen eyelids?
Actually sometimes yes you can. Sometimes our face and eyes swell because of preventable action.
For example, a high intake of salt is not only bad for you but it can cause this awful puffy face, and or puffy eyelids that you are trying so hard to get rid of.
Often time’s women are more prone to swelling eyelids, or a puffy face. This is because women are ten times more likely to retain water.
And let’s not forget that consuming high amounts of salt can lead to water retention!
Another common dietary mistake many people make is the consumption of alcohol.
I am not knocking a glass of wine in the evening, or even a beer or two, but a high intake of any type of alcohol is going to lead to retention of fluid and puffy eyelids.
...less controllable reasons why your eyelids swell.
During allergy season almost everyone who has a seasonal allergy has their eyelids swollen.
Allergy eyes can cause runny watery eyes, eyelids swollen, and that lovely red tint. This is your bodies response to a specific allergen…typically pollen or hay fever.
Last but not least, lack of sleep can cause puffy eyelids.
But the good news is you can fix this, and prevent the puffy face or eyelids!
Keeping a mindful eye on your salt and alcohol intake can reduce the appearance of puffy eyelids.
...Remember in with the water, out with the salt!
For those allergy eyes, you must find a good allergy medicine that works to control those nasty allergies, and you will find that the swollen eyelids are gone!
Last but certainly not least is a healthy sleep pattern.
One of my major pet peeves is the statement… “I can sleep when I am dead”
Your body needs rest and plenty of it, at least 6-8 hours a night…more or less depending on your age and needs, your body will let you know!
Sleep will allow your body time to rest and perform…Scheduled maintenance!
When you deprive your body of sleep it shows, with puffy eyes and even sickness.
Some tips and tricks to kicking puffy eyelids for good!
There are some very good serums on the market that can help you reduce the swelling.
However, there is some speculation that one very popular ingredient, retinol, can actually contribute to the swelling around the eye. Although this is just speculation.
Almost everyone will have a certain amount of puffiness in the eye area with aging, and this is simply a sign of the aging process…but that doesn’t mean you have to accept it!
If your eye puffiness is a result of one of the dietary, allergies, or daily habits, listed above the best treatment for it is prevention, in other words stop the agitating source.
Either way there are some extremely helpful things you can do to help reduce the swelling.
You can try cutting two slices of potatoes, or cucumber, place them in the freezer for a few minutes to chill and then place them on the eyes.
Another great remedy is to get an eye mask that is full of gel and chill it. Place the mask on your face and relax for awhile.
Yet anther wonderful remedy is tea bags. Wet the tea bags, squeeze the tea bags until there is no excess liquid, and cover each eye; sit or lie back and let the tea bags do their magic.
Any type of tea works ...it is the caffeine in the tea that will draw out the puffiness.
Always remember…
Whether your puffy eyelids are caused by health problems, poor dietary choices, or aging, there are serums and natural remedies that will help you look and feel better.
I find that one way is to stick your face underwater and open your eyes. The water must be cold which reduces the swelling, not to go into too much detail ...
